July 2008
Commander
Comrades,
Thank you for electing me as your
Commander. I look forward to having a wonderful year;
and also look forward to your support with up coming
events.
Congratulations to all of our Post
Officers, Ladies Auxiliary, M.O.C., M.O.C.A., and House
Committee.
The Post has a new Surgeon, so please
say “Hi” to David Kelly when you
see him around the Post. Thanks for stepping up, David.
Now let’s give a big “Congrats”
to our very own Glenn Holman who has
been elected as our 2nd District Commander.
Congrats also to Commander
Penning and the individuals who assisted him in
bringing in new members last year. Because of
this, Post 3160 has made All-American once again!
CONGRATS! Making All-American is
an honor and not every Post has the privilege of making
it. GOOD JOB, POST 3160!
The State Convention was great
this year. I hope everyone who went had a good time.
They had elections and our new State Commander is
Hal Roesch from Post 3219 (Phoebus); so when you
see him around here, please tell him CONGRATS!
Memorial Day: Thank you to all
who as sisted and brought in food. Great turn-out; and
Thanks to Lee Ralph and Lil Kiley
– the food they brought in was fabulous! Again,
“Thank You”!
Some dates to keep in mind:
4th of July Dinner: (FREE BBQ
Pork and the fixin’s, with entertainment to fol low).
The Boy Scouts will be assisting with a Flag
Retirement ceremony just prior to the dinner; and –
Oh! I almost forgot – I still need a bugle player! If
you can play, please show up that evening and play for
us – it would be wonderful!
I will not be in putting
entertainment in this block in the future; how ever, it
will be in the News letter. But here are a couple of
dates:
11 July: Jack Bateman Band – good
ole country.
25 July: Michael Clark
“Starring Tracy Clark”. If you didn’t come last
time, you missed an AWESOME SHOW.
All entertainment will start at 7:30
p.m.
I also noticed that a bunch of you
have stepped up to the plate to assist with - Friday
Night Dinners again. THANK YOU! We have a
great club; but with out all of us enjoying ourselves
and giving a helping hand once in awhile, it wouldn’t be
that way.
The next Post Meeting is 10
July at 7:00 p.m., so please stop in.
Also, don’t for get about July 19th –
we will have the Five Families’ “Crab Fest” and
it’s in Ocean View Park. If you like crab and shrimp, or
even hot dogs and sausage, it’s the place to go. Plus,
it’s supporting our clubs.
“Welcome Aboard” to all of our
New Members. Stop in and introduce yourselves to your
“Comrades”.
Yours, in Comradeship,
