VFW Post 3160 is proud to announce that the USS Porter (DDG 78) has agreed to become our official adopted unit as part of the VFW's Adopt-a-Unit program.  The USS Porter is an Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer.  These fast warships provide multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities, and can operate independently or as part of  carrier battle groups and surface action groups.  We will be inviting crewmembers to join our Post as part of the Military Initiative Program (MIP).  The MIP is a program that allows qualified active duty military to join the VFW for the first time free of charge.  We will work with the ship on how our Post can best support them.  The ship has given the Post a picture of the ship, which can be viewed in the Canteen area.  We are looking forward to their future presence in our Post.
