July 2008
Comrades and Sisters, Welcome to our new member, H.T. Lewis. Hope every body is doing well. We are all saddened by the loss of Rick Schonscheck’s father in May. Our prayers are still with you, Rick. I under stand that some VFW members think that the VFW Riders have not done very much for the VFW. I would like to list what has gone on since April: * 1: There was a Memorial/Wreath laying Ride to Georgia at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery. APRIL * 2: A ride to Ocean City, Maryland to promote VFW Membership. * 3: A ride to support the Naval Special Warfare Foundation. * 4: A ride to support the Police Unity Tour Ride for fallen officers. * 5: A ride to Williamsburg to promote and organize a ride in August. MAY * 6: a ride to support the Little League Challenger Jubilee. * 7: A ride to Smithfield, VFW Post 8545, to support a BBQ Fund Raiser for their Post. * 8: A ride to Quantico National Cemetery to place flags. * 9: A ride to Washington, DC to the Vietnam Veterans’ Wall, where two wreaths were placed. JUNE * 10: A ride to support two sailors from the USS TRUMAN. This was a homecoming escort ride from the ship to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. VFW Riders from Delaware picked the escort up on the north end to Delaware. We escorted the other sailor to his house in Virginia Beach. I would like to thank all who participated in all the rides. I think the VFW Riders have been very supportive of military and other organizations so far this season. There are more rides planned for the rest of the year. Don’t forget the Dinner Ride to O’Sullivan’s on the 26th of this month. Our next VFW Riders Meeting will be at Post 3160, Ocean View at 1900. Ride Safe & Have Fun. ...... Glenn Holman, President
